Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák met while studying at VŠUP in Prague, where they started their collaboration. After graduating, they became part of the emerging fresh generation of Czech designers characterized by a wide range of interests and a professional approach to work. Since then, they have been among respected Czech creators.

The founders of the Prague studio Vrtiška & Žák are united by diligence, the desire to overcome challenges and the ability to see potential even where it remains hidden to others. Their work covers a complex of areas from product design to interiors and architecture, from craftsmanship to industrial scale.
